Is Bret taking a decent jog north or is it the way the clouds make it look?

While not so much now, earlier today, Bret looked like the Pepsi logo!

Hard to tell exactly, but the general motion is still west. The center will likely get pulled around in different directions as it continues to stack under the deep convection. Clearly strengthening, best it’s looked so far imo

That’s quite a potent mid-level center. If Bret was slower and was allowed to stack, we’d probably be seeing a RI phase similar to what the HWRF had been showing, which would’ve allowed Bret to escape to the north before hitting the islands.
It’s possible that maybe mid-level shear relaxes enough for the LLC and MLC to get a little better aligned for a bit, leading to a peak of 55-70 kt. I don’t see anything higher than a marginal Cat 1 being possible.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Helicity is very strong with this one.
Pushing shear out of the way.

Looks like its kicking in a poleward outflow channel

Got that evil twin convective blob indicating a strong feeder band connection - tons of juice ahead to work with.
Expect to see a jumbo shrimp form.

Don't let the convection fool you - sheared at the mid-level causing tilt. LLC is on the tip of the convection and the MLC on the edge.
Climatology is likely prevailing here. My 60 knot prediction is likely to bust.

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.
