#1 Postby TexasStooge » Sun Nov 16, 2003 4:07 pm

Dallas County, TX has been issued a Flu Advisory after 400 cases were reported (181 children) and 1 person died possibly from complications of that flu.

I'll keep you posted.

I will never have the flu shot unless I absolutely have to. I very rare get the common cold and saying the word "needle" makes my skin crawl.

I had a flu shot on October 16th...a few seconds with a needle I would take over a period of days with influenza.

A common cold isn't the flu...there is of course no vaccination for colds.

Tom - I do not like needles, but after I got a very bad case of the flu a few winters ago, I have summoned up the courage each year since then to get the flu shot. And in many cases when people say they got sick because of the flu shot, it was really something that they already had in their system that coincidentally starting showing the symptoms within a few days of getting the shot. Besides, it takes 3 to 6 weeks before the flu shot provides protection to you - so someone can still contract the flu within a week or two after they get the shot.
