For those of you who live way up north in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area, here's what the 12Z GFS has in store for you. No precip, just cold dry air. Again, not my forecast just raw GFS data. Cold, but not historic cold. Sweater weather.

Yeah, the GFS is showing the PV taking a trip through the heart of the country is unlikely. Has that ever happened before? Lol.

2013 I believe it set up on the Iowa/Minnesota border. Could have been 2014. When did the typhoon recurve into Alaska setting that winter off?

Typhoon Nuri in early November 2014.

Maybe we could start a GoFundMe campaign for jet fuel for his Australian-bound private aircraft?!

Meanwhile, looks like the 12z Euro op run is a bit slower on the Arctic hammer than its 0z run. Also drops the 500mb low a little deeper into the West at 240 hours.

I’ll send him some of my Sitka base layer gear but he can only wear it in Sydney. He will hate hot weather after that.

It’s getting cold. It’s going to feel like Christmas.

I put no stock in precip depictions this far out, so wake me up inside 5 days in regards to that.

Euro has the NW half of the state in the negative teens the morning of the 23rd as the front presses south.

Don't trust the models that go east. It's going to press up against the Rockies and drive hard south. What we are seeing now is basically every run is driving insane cold numbers in the northern US, that's not really in doubt anymore. It will only increase in intensity in higher resolution.

The discussion also needs to be had we may challenge the all time high pressure records in the lower 48.

We're likely going to be seeing an extended period of time with temperatures below freezing across much of Texas around Christmas. Let's hope ERCOT is better prepared this time around. I've heard that they are, but I won't believe it until I see it. I definitely don't want to be without power for several days again with brutally cold temperatures. Not fun at all.

Not much to contribute from my end, basically echoing what everyone else thinks. Buckle up! Hopefully the slider system this weekend can produce a few flakes across Central Texas to kickoff the pattern change
