I doubt any TV station is running "in-house" models. With a storm that has such a large area of TS winds, the exact landfall point is less important. Any hurricane force winds may cover only a few square miles out over the water. Expect some strong tropical storm-force winds north of where the center reaches the coast. Beyond then, all that cool, dry air over Florida now will be flowing into Nicole, knocking its core down fairly quickly. Not a big rain producer. I see the latest EC forecasting only 2-3 inches across the eastern half of the Peninsula. This is no Ian. It'll be all gone by Friday afternoon. So ends the season (I hope).

So are you saying that the "cool dry air" will be knocking its core down at landfall? No hurricane force winds at landfall along the coast?

It's unlikely any on-land observation will report sustained winds to hurricane strength (1-min avg). Wind gusts are different, but hurricanes aren't classified by gusts.

78 kts from FL. That's got to be enough to upgrade to hurricane now.

65kt SFMR too. This is a hurricane. Wouldn't be surprised if winds are higher in that northern band

I missed that..maybe just adjusting/fixing their instruments before a center pass. They also dropped a dropsonde in that area.

It has definitely strengthened again, 78 knot flight level winds.

Those data suggest winds of 70 kt. Pressure I'd guess is around 980.

That was recorded on the back side of the circulation.
Fortunately the northwestern quadrant has been pulling in cooler drier air most of the day and if this were to continue all the way to landfall they might not have needed hurricane warnings.

Now that the high has shifted east a little there may be some moisture being drawn back up from Cuba that will wrap into some strong squall rings before landfall.

Are you sure? It looks like the center may be just south of Grand Bahama Island if I'm understanding that correctly. Other opinions? If the center isn't north of that island by the time it gets to the longitude of the western part of it, it would then clearly be south of the model consensus.

Already some spots of heavy rain in Volusia and Seminole, which got soaked by Ian. 3+ inches in spots just from outer squall lines.

South side looks fine now. May have sucked some dry air but overall the moisture has expanded. That Cuban air mass was assimilated.

All that convection building on the north side is what is coming to the I-4 corridor during the early morning hours.

Not sure what school their Met's went to, but lets say one are more went to FSU, they could be using their model claiming it as "in house"
Abc uses both in my area

For WFTV the “In House” model is from IBM. It was mentioned during Ian but that was all the detail given.

A quick Google says IBM has the GRAF model. “Global High Resolution Atmospheric Forecasting System”

Kinda reminds me a bit of Fiona when she was a hybrid, with the weird "split" looking appearance.
