Looks almost SSW to me, but sometimes my eyes deceive me with these things. Either way, this is the interesting part, I think.

Still doesn't look that great on IR to me, but then again I said that about Ian 24 hours before it started doing better lol

At this rate it might make it to the southern portion of the forecast cone.

Just as an aside:

Some bridges in Miami Dade were locked down this AM.

UM went remote for Wednesday.

A little...odd, to me.

Wow - and Miami traffic heaved a massive sigh of relief! Those river drawbridge openings cripple the traffic of the entire city of Miami for 15 minutes at a time.

The only remaining question being what category those winds will be. Could this be a situation where RI suddenly occurs?

My local Kendall point forecast had "Tropical Storm Conditions possible" for Wednesday night then it disappeared this morning. It is back again now.

So a hurricane forming by midnight tomorrow (EST) is not out of question? From what I can recall Nicole was not projected to become 60 mph until much later tonight

Unless explicitly stated, all info in my posts is based on my own opinions and observations. Tropical storms and hurricanes can be extremely dangerous. Do not think you can beat Mother Nature. Refer to an accredited weather research agency or meteorologist if you need to make serious decisions regarding an approaching storm.

Just saw on CBS that Broward is in the clear and that Hurricane watches may be lifted by tonight...

That's really bad reporting.

The 60 mph was forecast by 10 pm tonight. Could it not be out the question that we have Hurricane Nicole tonight?

Am I imagining things? When this is looped it almost looks like hints of "the fist" appearing.

No you’re right that it’s definitely wrapping up, but convection is quite shallow at the moment with the dry air around. The structure is coming together but it’ll need a good convective burst or two near the center to get to hurricane status. Could happen tonight

Warm core heating up.
Boundary layer just about to go cold.
Big improvement from this morning.

This thing is diving way further south way sooner. Why would anyone make such a decision? Is this a local govt call?

Sounds pretty irresponsible but I guess they're going with the idea that most of the weather will be north of the storm.
