Nobody is shuttering by me on the Treasure Coast. OR, they all have impact resistant windows and doors. I do not, and will not be shuttering.

I think tomorrow there will be shutters, you are closer to anticipated landfall than me, I expect shutters to appear here tomorrow.

Landfall is about 2 miles south of me. But I'm debating shutters. I don't think I've put shutters up for a cat1. Is it necessary?

Like has been said on the NHC site, don't focus on on the landfall area as effects will be far reaching especially with this system.

There is no downside to putting up shutters other than maybe 30 minutes of setting them up(if even that)

I am by no means a professional. DO NOT look at my forecasts for official information or make decisions based on what I post.

Goal: to become a registered expert over tropical and subtropical cyclones.

Most insurance policies can decline to cover you if you don't put up shutters but have them down and take on damage.

That's true but I would prefer it crossing to my north.

Very true. I just have to find time. Maybe before work tomorrow. It's dark now coming home.

Despite being naked for most of the day, the minimum pressure has continued to fall. Latest recon fixed it around 997 mb.

EDIT: looks like they're sticking with 1000 mb for now.

That 1000mb eye drop had 15 kt of wind, so the actual pressure was likely 998mb, a noticeable drop from earlier in the day despite a pretty disheveled satellite presentation.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Just saw the first of the low fast clouds we all associate with tropical systems. Gets me excited!

I have a feeling I will be staying up for tonight's Euro. Feels like everything from a naked Swirl to a Cat 2 is in play. I wonder how a much a transition to tropical will affect track.

To me the logic for a landfall near Miami all hinges on how much of a southwest turn she makes. It’s still a unknown. Remember for 48 hours all we heard was landfall in Tampa hundreds of thousands evacuated all to end up being a Fort Meyers/Naples event. Don’t drink the koolade just yet. !!

That would be quite a swing in track 48 hours out.

Just look at what Ian did but aside from that the storm is still projected to curve southwest a 20 mile jog almost changes everything and we are not there yet. Mark this post the gulfstream has a mind of its own even once it makes that dip.

Kind of weird. NOAA does one low altitude pass through the center then does the rest of the mission around 24000 ft. It has done this on two missions today.
