No doubt. It feels disgusting outside. Just had to crank the a/c to flush out some sticky air. It will get better on Friday.

Sure is. I wouldn't mind it if it was bringing us some widespread rainfall.

Heavy rain at the office in north Austin! We got about 0.4" or so over the past week at the abode in Cedar Park with storms.

Parts of DFW from the SE moving NW might get a good dose of slow moving rain bands.

The upcoming -EPO episode might be quite a show for mid November. There are several seasons that feature a dominant EPO ridge over the NW portion of North America. Your typical November cold spells usually looks a little different but this feature is a more prolonged version lasting a week or more. Some of the spells did feature snow/ice somewhere in the southern plains. The very negative SOI reading hints at a potential STJ. Some days ago noted if we can sustain the negatives it would signal a more potent change, and it has.

No doubt this is early season North American cold surge across the continent.

Well, we managed to get our bird hunt in on Friday and dodged the tornadoes Friday night. The power went out at my house during the storms, so my weather station stopped recording after 0.60". I think my total was well over 1".

Managed 0.25" this morning. With the sun out now, I can also confirm that this humidity is yuck.

Going along with the GFS showing several runs with snow around 8-11 days out, it’s also forecasting the PNA to head more towards neutral, which bodes relatively well for the cold air driving right over the plains. It’s something to watch as a negatively tilted PNA favors cold over the western US, but anything between the +-1 range is promising for us.

For reference, this was the PNA during the February 2021 outbreak.

Wow! Much below temps with above normal precip through 14 days, at least for most of Texas. What a flip!
