I thought the First TCR of the year was out today. But I was disappointed because it was just a simple post above

Well, the big bad ones like Fiona and Ian will not get done until well into 2023 I'd have to assume

Unless explicitly stated, all information covered in my posts is based on my opinions and observations. Please refer to a professional meteorologist or an accredited weather research agency otherwise, especially if serious decisions must be made in the event of a potentially life-threatening tropical storm or hurricane.

Is this the latest the first reports were published? Usually the first one is done by September.
Blas was lowered from its 80kt initial intensity.

I think so. I made this thread on August 31rst thinking they would start the release in early September however, I think they were very busy with three big ones Danielle, Earl and Fiona in the first 2 weeks and after that, IAN came.

That doesn’t make sense. It developed a full blown eye later in its life…and the NHC downgrades it?

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

They mentioned that despite the improved satellite presentation, the Microwave and ASCAT passes showed a broad, sprawling structure and lacked a well-defined inner core.

I am waiting here in PR for the Fiona report to see if it was a hurricane before NHC classified it at 11 AM EDT on September 18.

At this pace, the last report will be up by late Spring or early Summer. Looking back, the first 2020 report was on September 18 and the first 2021 report was on July 2.

Agatha was likely just shy of category 3, had she had more time over water, she would have been a 3 at landfall.
