Asperger's Syndrome is not a mental disability, it is a developmental disability.

Jeremy,
Does ACM have anything to do with Spina Bifida? Just curious. When I was younger and in elementary school, my best friend had Spina Bifida. Wonderful friend he was. Currently, I help to take care of my uncle occaisionally who has CP and is a quadrapalegic. He has not let his disability hamper anything he wants to do in life. He recently moved into his own apartment. (Assisted living facility) but still his own where no-one lives with him.

What I am trying to say is that you can accomplish whatever you put your mind to and you have a great support network right here on Storm2k if you ever feel the need for re-assurance. We are here for you WXBuddy. Good luck on the DL testing. You will be fine.

A woman that I work was told today while on her coffe break that the doctors want her daughter to have an MRI because they suspect chiari. Up until this thread, I had never heard of this disease so I was taken aback when Dawn got off the phone and asked me if I knew anything about this. Unfortunately, I still don't know much about this subject - I quickly read the link that was provided. I'm saying prayers for Dawn's daughter - and Jeremy, if it turns out to be chiari, would it be okay if I were to give her Mom your email address in the event that she wants to talk to someone who is experiencing the same things?

BTW I've had headaches for the last 2 years related to ACM...doctors say that I may have started having problems with my shunt...which is a tube and a small block used to hold fluids......

There are some with Asperger's Syndrome who work, there are others like myself that do not. Those with it that I correspond with online (also) do not work or have part time jobs, (opposed to full time jobs).

It isn't that it hampers me, if I really could work I would. I am not lazy, it is easier for me to do things on my own time at my own pace... most likely any job I would have wouldn't be that way.

Not everyone with a disability can work.
