Definitely root for today's Euro 12z suite. Splits the ridge enough to give some relief. Not a pattern breakdown but at least intermission from excessive heat.
Ridging in the Pacific Northwest is always a good thing here.

Re: Texas Summer 2022
116F just to the ENE of Vernon highest I can find so far. Probably enough time for a few more degrees of warming.

For Oklahoma so far it's Hobart at 115F.

Re: Texas Summer 2022
Looking at PWS there are a ton of 115+ readings in Northwest Texas today. Highest reading I found was 120.9 in Quannah. I would generally take a few degrees off of those reading as those stations generally will not be sited properly.

Only 110??

I did notice dewpoints were a tick higher today in the metroplex than yesterday.

I about to smoke some homemade jerky. It's only 101F right now in Longview. I think I'll put on a sweater.

Well, I’ve managed to record 112°F. This is the 2nd hottest temperature I’ve ever recorded. #1 is 113°F in August 2012.

Hi-res models have been trending towards higher coverage tomorrow across N. TX. I wouldn't be surprised to see pops bumped to 30 or 40%. Cross your fingers!

Re: Texas Summer 2022
This forecast discussion from the EWX this morning cracked me up (last sentence). Trying to find the smallest silver lining. You can tell they're bored. I'd be too!
LONG TERM...
(Thursday night through Tuesday)
Issued at 234 AM CDT Wed Jul 20 2022
The bad news first: Still no signs for rain for most of the region
over the next week. Some sea-breeze convection could bring a few
spots in our far southeastern Coastal Plains areas some low-end rain
chances this weekend into next week as the ridge weakens.
The good news: The ridge weakens some! While temperatures are still
forecast to be near or slightly above average Friday and beyond,
they won`t be quite as oppressive as we`ve had for much of this
month. (hey, i`m trying to look on the bright side here, give me a
break.)

I really enjoy reading the Shreveport NWS Forecast Discussion, especially the night shift forecaster... he/she does a good job at implementing humor too!

Re: Texas Summer 2022
Large amount of convection expected in the Indian Ocean soon (MJO), will this have a positive effect moving forward? I'm starting to look at the winter forecast already.
Terrible to see the crazy heat you guys are going through down there. Cant imagine. Was in Houston for the June part of the summer and it was horrible.
It appears next week the high will slide off the both coasts. Lets hope Texas can have multiple widespread rain events. Maybe can get some green grass to grow, to help pump humidity in the atmosphere and lesson the likelihood of these highs getting comfortable over TX.

Re: Texas Summer 2022
Feels worse today because of the extra humidity. The dry heat - even when 110 - is more tolerable.

I see showers up north. Crazy to see that after the hottest day of the summer. Would not have seen that in 2011 for sure. Hopefully we get some relief next week.

Re: Texas Summer 2022
12z GFS today shows a developing Bermuda ridge by days 7-10. Definitely different than what we have been seeing most of this summer. Also, the tropics are about to get going in a few weeks.
