We're in the same timeframe back in 2021, when the models hinted something big at the end of this month, only to get pushed back to the Next Month.

NWS has 1-2 for me now on the point forecast but still no advisory :spam: they seem to be limiting it to higher elevations

There is still too much uncertainty for the snowfall other than the Higher Elevations

There was someone who posted the GIFs on TWC's Temperature outlooks, they are Similar in 2021, but there was the Ultimate Uno Reverse in February 2021

Maybe a good sign for the Metroplex with regards to snow tomorrow? Usually the more unstable, the easier it is to tap into moisture.

Maybe. Shows dynamic lift at the mid upper levels. You can see the dry air underneath that will need to be overcome though if anything pops off.

Good! That means I’m not crazy. Can’t remember seeing those clouds without storms or their tops in the vicinity.

Yeah but I'm not so sure this is about accumulation anyway. It's more the blowing snow or possibly the whiteout conditions. If that happens in the metro it's gonna be a mess

Their own map has 1-2 widespread now

I think the bigger story across the state overnight and into tomorrow morning is going to be the widespread high wind gust and potential fire danger. Really something folks need to pay attention to and unfortunately doesn't get the kind of coverage I think it should at times. Tomorrow is going to be one of those days.

Give me something close as I almost always benefit from LES from nearby lakes. A dusting would be enough for happy dance.

Jet is doing what we need it to do in the next 10 days.

Feeling more confident we will defeat the Niña background state and have our winter from the 20th thru much of February.

I’ll be much more confident come early next week.

LOL at the TWC graphic from yesterday. Clowns!

18z GFS is featuring winter weather around 7-9 Days out, mostly along & North of I-20

EDIT: I spoke too soon, there is snow for DFW, & I get dry slotted (Less snow than DFW)

The high for next weeks system weakened a good bit from previous runs on the 18z GFS.

Same system the Ensembles have been hinting at for several days now….several S/Ws in Pacific jet and how they’ll interact with the ULL sitting offshore of Cali are playing havoc on the models right now. Probably won’t know much until early next week when they enter the Pacific Northwest

Why do I have this feeling that this is going to be a January-February 2021 Repeat?

It wont. 2021 most probably wont happen again in our lifetime as mentioned many times before.

I've noticed many similarities to January 2021

  • Some Cold Shots, but most of the extreme cold stays either in Canada & Alaska
  • Some snow here & there in January
  • Can get down to the Teens & 20s, but nothing extreme
  • PV starts to become Unstable due to (Mostly) Sudden Stratwarms
  • Mostly Dry & warm overall

I’m not feeling too confident about that. I mean things can always change regarding the weather but the +PNA really has me bummed right now. Once again the east coast cashes in and all we get is glancing blows.
