Why are you even looking at WV loops for an LLC?

Don't use WV loops to look for a LLC ...

Visible imagery is the BEST way always (during daylight hours) ... the only other way at night is to use IR2 (Shortwave Imagery) and I cannot locate a clear cut LLCC right now ...

I thought I was able to locate a broad circulation earlier this afternoon using vis imagery, but I totally lost it this evening using shortwave. Perhaps it (if it exists) is hidden under the convection. I do see some mid level spin in the clouds though. I bet the convection dissipates. :(

I saw some resemblance of a broad low pressure area earlier before last light ... but the circ. is fairly weak at this time ...

Currently, there is a much weakened version of the TUTT low in the Western Caribbean and there are some baroclinic effects which has served to really enhance the system's convection (something I thought would happen 3-4 days ago on another post)... so I'm not really surprised right now ...

BTW, the models haven't REALLY closed the system off until AFTER passing NNE of PR anyway ... it's a slow evolving scenario ...

Agreed, forget even trying to look for an LLC at night with such a system - you're not even seeing the low clouds. I've been looking at sfc obs in the eastern Caribbean and I see at most a 5-10kt westerly flow just offshore South America. So there are indications of a very broad low at the surface, but such a low has been there in the southern Caribbean for weeks. Now there is some convection to work with.
