Unless explicitly stated, all information covered in my posts is based on my opinions and observations. Please refer to a professional meteorologist or an accredited weather research agency otherwise, especially if serious decisions must be made in the event of a potentially life-threatening tropical storm or hurricane.

Farewell to our Sam. Satisfied the urge for a long tracking ACE accumulator that wouldn't cause damage to life or property.

Matthew is gonna get knocked down another few pegs once its peak eventually gets revised downwards. Then it won’t even be part of the 50 ACE club anymore, nor a Cat 5.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Re: ATL: SAM - Hurricane - Discussion
Down to 85 kt on the 12z BT. Sam will get one final advisory with 100+ mph winds, which should be enough to help it cross 53 ACE before turning post-tropical.

Sam remains a TC on the 18z best track update, but this will probably be its last advisory while tropical.

Re: ATL: SAM - Hurricane - Discussion
At this rate, Sam might make it to the north pole as a hurricane.

Sam remains a hurricane for the 11 pm advisory. Sam has now Surpassed Luis of 1995 in ACE!.

I am by no means a professional. DO NOT look at my forecasts for official information or make decisions based on what I post.
Goal: to become a registered expert over tropical and subtropical cyclones.

Looks like it just crossed 50N. A hurricane only 16 degrees south of the Arctic Circle
How bout that

I am in no way a professional. Take what I say with a grain of salt as I could be totally wrong. Please refer to the NHC, NWS, or SPC for official information.
