I don't think that barge is supposed to be there. Port Fourchon looks wrecked.

Funny how one of the young women in that clip from NOLA asks, "Is this a tornado?"

Also, I expect that the north shore of Lake Ponchatrain will get more storm surge than expected. You can see now on the webcams in Laplace, LA how the wind is now starting to blow the surge back out into the Lake. But water is still being blown into the eastern half of the Lake from the onshore flow over there. So where can the water go? The only logical place for it to eventually pile up will be in the Mandeville area later tonight as Ida slides by to the west.

Yeah, I knew it. I knew the brown ocean effect was a very real possibility for Ida, and look what happened.

Unless explicitly stated, all info in my posts is based on my own opinions and observations. Tropical storms and hurricanes can be extremely dangerous. Do not think you can beat Mother Nature. Refer to an accredited weather research agency or meteorologist if you need to make serious decisions regarding an approaching storm.

9 hours after landfall(about 9) we still have a major hurricane. Remarkable.

WOW!! Amazing footage. Scary stuff

Wow those waves are just unbelievable, and the wind sounds like a demon. I could only imagine a person in those conditions, scary to think that a person who is present there is basically a goner.

I'm pretty sure that video is from the big petro port just to the west of Grand Isle where Ida made landfall. Any thoughts on how high the winds were in that video?

I have a question: on wikipedia, it says that Ida was 150/929 at its strongest. However, I cannot recall any NHC advisory that had 929 mbar as the lowest pressure? Wasn't the storm 150/930 at is most powerful?
