Yep it is strange and we are getting downright soggy in some areas of Houston! I've actually been lucky and had less than some of our friends and members in W Houston. Still we have had rain the last 9 days in a row and probably 15 of the last 16.

Interesting little mesoscale setup across Eastern DFW this evening. There is an eastward moving outflow boundary and a few areas of weak localized convergence out in front of the outflow. It will be interesting to see if storms fire along those areas of localized convergence, they show up on radar and appear as small cloud streets on sat.

The pattern shows up again: the coasts are warmer than average, but the middle of the country is cooler than average.

Who can tell me what the tiny beetles that come out at dusk and fly all over me are? I don't remember ever dealing with them in Texas before.

There are more species of beetles than all of the rest of the animal kingdom combined. Post a pic and I'll give you my best guess. If it's at dusk, probably some kind of scarabidae (June Bugs). You said they're tiny so that makes me pause.

Some signs that a heat dome may settle over Texas/central US in time for the peak summer period. Probably the first wide spread 100s for the region.

I refuse to accept this. Persistence. Of course I also said 2011 incoming. I was right if this were the west.

Since the majority of this summer has had below normal temperatures and above average precipitation, I suspect that this ridge will probably not stick around longer than 1-2 weeks. It's probably just moving in to heat the Gulf back up. Watch it move away when something forms in the Atlantic.

I got 1" also yesterday. I probably have similar stats to you. It's been a great Summer!

About the same total in San Antonio yesterday too. And I agree, we've definitely had great summer weather so far, with cooler and wetter than normal conditions. I'm thankful! :D

Shouldn't be anything too crazy. We were bound to get a ridge at some point and without the soil feedback a week stretch of 98-102 is nothing extraordinary. It was going to happen at peak anyway. The core of the ridge will be to our north and east slightly so some chances for daily showers below. One of those transitory situations nothing like what's been happening out west.

I’m expecting no storms for at least 1-2 weeks now. 100s are currently out of the question right now. But that could change as it gets closer.

97 F near Dallas and 91 F near Austin on Monday, one can only say that Monday will unbearably hot for many Texans. The humid air will worsen the effects.

And these are below-average temperatures for East Texas...

This is what my favorite news station is showing (News 9) for OKC, this is looking very hot & very humid next week (Highs in the Upper 90s & Lows in the Mid 70s), urgh . . .
At least there are no 100s expected so far . . .
