Possible LES event for my area this weekend for Southern Erie, Chattauqua, Cattaraugus and Oswego Counties in NY (Lakes Erie and Ontario areas)
401 PM EST Thu Nov 6 2003
...First significant lake effect snowfall of the season possible
Friday night and Saturday...
A strong Canadian cold front is expected to move across the lower
Great Lakes region Friday...ushering the coldest air of the fall
season thus far across western and northern New York. The arrival of
this cold air mass will result in conditions that may produce lake
effect snow showers...beginning Friday night through early Saturday.
The dryness of the airmass will limit the snowfall to an accumulation
of around an inch downwind of lakes Erie and Ontario. This will be
mainly over Chautauqua...Cattaraugus...southern Erie and Oswego
counties...although larger amounts of snow are possible if lake
effect snow bands become more persistent.
Stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio and other radio and TV stations for
further details or updates.
