Occlusion looks to be occurring, given the rapid curve northward and weakening of the debris ball.

Apparently that monster tornado that affected places like Greensboro and Brent had inbound velocities of 150kts at one point. Not g2g, just inbound. Also Vrot of 107kts with radar detecting debris up to 23,000 ft. Exceptional radar presentation. I hope everyone in the path was taking cover and is safe.

Also, one of the chasers out there recently got into a car accident, his name is Steven MacLeroy. Hopefully everyone involved in that accident is unharmed as well.

Edit UPDATE: I had the chaser's name wrong, it's not James but Steven. He posted on Twitter that he's ok.

He stepped off camera for a few minutes, made sure that his wife was ok, got back on camera and kept going. Much respect for Mr. Spann.

Yep. I grew up in Tuscaloosa and his voice was always comforting during tornado warnings. I got to meet him when I was in 5th grade, super nice guy.

Is it just not gonna stop? Debris ball approaching Newnan, GA. Long tracker with favorable conditions ahead of it approaching a major population center at night is a recipe for disaster. Once it gets past Newnan it will head towards the southern portions of the Atlanta metro...

EDIT: Tornado emergency for Newnan. Taking a direct hit. This is horrible

@MatthewCappucci — It appears that Newnan, Georgia was a direct hit by a serious to monster #tornado.

All indications suggest the circulation passed directly over the downtown area – Jefferson St., W. Court Square, etc.

The restaurants, businesses, etc.; radar indicates worst case scenario track.
