Do y'all want me to seal my Canadian cold air wall now? I opened it up before I flew to Darwin.

Yes! Please come back this weekend & help us thaw out!

My suggestion: Build a "Arctic Wall" to keep away the Extreme cold from us & divert it East for next year . . . :firedevil:

So for once, JB was not using hyperbole. Our infrastructure has been tested and found lacking.

I was thinking about that last night. I don't care for Bastardi but he deserves credit for this one. Of course "broken clocks being right...", and "even a blind squirrel...", can apply as well.

La Nina's are notorious for extreme weather events. If I'm not mistaken, the Joplin and Tuscaloosa Tornadoes(that occurred in the same year) was during a La Nina. The devastating Ice Storm in December of 2000 that crippled NE Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas for weeks was during a La Nina. I was without power for 10 days during that Ice Storm. Some people didn't have power for a month, as the Electrical Power infrastructure had to be rebuilt.

This guy has a pretty good video comparing analogs for the upcoming season. He’s not a professional, but I think he’s worth a watch.

Well, I searched on Youtube for "2021 Severe Weather season Preditions" & found this from Direct Weather:

Please note it's Preliminary forecast released last month . . . (And why did put February 2021 as Above Average is because they got the data from the CPC, but it was WAY below Average LOL )

A lot will depend on the Gulf also. Despite 2011 having the Feb cold blasts, SE ridge created a hot gulf that set up the clash.

SE ridge is poised to takeover next few weeks so lets see if it heats up. When mid to late March and it is anomalously warm there, we'll know.

Snow starting to let up in Del Rio. I have 11.5 inches... Not sure if another .5 will fall (compaction needs to be figured in) Anyway it has been awesome. Almost worth the 4 days without power and the 2 days without water.

Periodic flurries at my house, but virtually no accumulation. Perhaps generous would be "light dusting."

Yeah ... terrible. I've gone two days now with no water. Using melted snow to help flush toilets. Fortunately I keep a good supply of drinking water anyhow so that's okay. City has a boil water notice but you can't boil what you don't have. Fortunately many folks are now getting power back today. Hopefully we all get water soon.
