CBS CANCELS "THE REAGANS" MINISERIES!
Dear John,
Thanks directly to efforts of people like you, CBS has canceled its scheduled showing of the miniseries "The Reagans!"
AFA supporters sent over 53,000 e-mail messages and letters to CBS president Les Moonves, and Viacom chair Sumner Redstone, urging the network to pull the miniseries from its program schedule.
The miniseries, originally scheduled to air Nov. 16 and 18, will be shown on CBS' sister pay-cable network Showtime. According to the Drudge Report, CBS will have to write off the $9 million it sank into the project.
In a statement released Tuesday CBS said, "CBS will not broadcast THE REAGANS on November 16 and 18. This decision is based solely on our reaction to seeing the final film, not the controversy that erupted around a draft of the script."
However, CBS' own news agency, CBS News, said that it was precisely because of "mounting pressure and criticism from conservatives" that the program was "dumped."
This is a significant victory. If you took any form of action - e-mail, letter, fax, or phone - I want to say "THANK YOU!"
To continue making an impact for decency in our culture, we need not only your activism, but your financial support as well. With your help we can continue to fight for the family and for conservative values. Would you consider making a generous contribution? It would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Don
