The stuff around us currently is super light returns.

The stuff we’re watching for Denton Co. is still out west towards mineral wells.

Also, we need to keep an eye on the ULL later today and if it wraps precipitation as it passes through the area.

Moderate to heavy snow is being reported in Granbury, its knocking on the door to Fort Worth won't be long now... Also this band is expanding coverage and snowfall rates are starting to increase. Nowcasting in full swing... I feel like alot of people are going to wake up to an early surprise.

The hype is picking up on the news. Talking live to TxDOT and Kylie (Fox 4) is in the office today, not working from home.

I’m noticing NWS Austin/San Antonio is keeping the estimated snow line right at the northern edge of the Bexar County line. Is there any reason why the snow line won’t be able to reach Downtown San Antonio or around 410?

12z HRRR again showing the possibility for another band of snow around 9-11pm tonight for DFW north to the red river. RAP/NAM have also been bullish on this scenario.

38-37 degrees and light snow mixing in. Won’t be too long before it completely transitions. :spam:

I’m hoping my kids get to chase some flakes around the yard, but I’m fully prepared for this flakes to be rain drops.

If those of us along I-20 east of I-35 can minimize the rain today by the lowest levels being a touch colder than modeled our snow will increase greatly.

Wow... Things escalating quickly in Stephenville already dropped from 39 down to 32 from this heavy band, roads covered in snow and 2-3" on grassy surfaces. This band is putting packing some insane snowfall rates now. That happened fast.

WOW.. just wow. Check out this pic of road conditions in eastland. https://twitter.com/NtxWeatherDepo/stat ... 73152?s=20

I think it is just a matter of geography. The coldest air which will support snow is associated with the upper level low currently in west Texas. It is supposed to traverse the state somewhere between Austin and DFW. The further one is away from the track the odds of snow decrease.

The first decent returns are just now entering Tarrant Co.

Give it a bit more time to see how this plays out.

Also as @SouthernMet has mentioned a few times this morning.

The 12z 12km Nam is showing light snow still falling in DFW area due to the ULL through midnight tonight.

This is going to be a long day, so well watch the next few hours on how this first round plays out and then we can see how the night unfolds with the ULL.
