All you have to do is look at the temps aloft. The GFS has this wrong. That would most likely be snow up on the northern side of that precip. It’s a common mistake with the GFS. Also, it has a warm bias. You can usually shed a few degrees off what the GFS is predicting.

It's the warmest of the bunch at the surface. Precip shield on most of the guidance has trended to be pretty similar. 0z GFS-P below with slightly cooler surface temps.

Yea, steady north trend continues on the GFS-P, while the GFS was a wobble back south. Also, signature of convective banding showing up in the QPF fields

Just FYI also DFW has not seen >1" of snow officially in the Month of January since 2003.

That will get broken. Also, this system will push all time records in some places

All great trends for DFW but the one I was looking for to really get this snow train going were the GEFS members....they’re now on board with a big shift north across I-20.

Good grief. It seems like the new GEFS has a bit of a low bias when it comes to snow totals, so that is impressive.

Maybe DFW can finally get a decent Return on their snow removal investment, post Super Bowl debacle

Weather geek and a storm spotter in West Austin. Not a degreed meteorologist. Big snow fan. Love rain and cold! Despise heat!

If it does pan out that way, I would definitely make the the trip if you can. Especially since it is a weekend. Us folks here in DFW know too well when it's oh so close and instead it's Abilene, or WF, and OKC.

It's still early and things could shift back south. Wait for the Hi-Res runs before folding up shop and advancing northward.

Ouch. True but ouch.
With this last piece of positive news on a wonderful trend day for me, I am heading to bed. Too many late nights in my future model watching.
Besides, I’ve been through this so many times the last several years, I go to bed excited and wake up to a bad news or a bad trend opposite of when I went to bed. Perhaps this will be different but I expect tomorrow morning I’ll wake up to see a cold light rain for DFW.

Good night all.
