Haven’t seen any evidence of flurries anywhere but I’ll keep a lookout!

12Z GFS indicates warm air advection across Texas on the 1st with a high in the low 60s and a low near 50 that night.. Euro has temps near 60 in the afternoon dropping to the low to mid 40s that Friday night. You can uncross your fingers. This isn't the type of pattern that brings snow to TX. Zonal flow through the first week of January with no significant cold air intrusions. Occasional cold air confined to the Great Lakes & New England. No cold lasting very long with the fast zonal flow.

I really do like snow - it's the only good use for cold air. Those who have followed my posts here for years know that when I really see a chance of snow, I identify the possibility and hope it comes true. However, the pattern across the U.S. over the next 2-3 weeks doesn't look good for snow south of the TX panhandle. Cold shots too brief with significant warm-ups between the cold. Air drying quickly with each frontal passage. Would need the upper lows to track farther south.

yeah a low in Kansas does us no good actually that would be closer to severe weather than winter weather

Freezing level is about 2000-3000 ft up but the air aloft is dry as a bone.

Radar shows snow in extreme north west Texas.
Unless you live in Middle water Texas, there isn´t any snow.
Edit, some snow is near north central Texas as well. Not widespread but localized flurries possible. Snow band about 50 miles East of Lubbock Texas.

The dew point depression is so great at my house there is no way they could make it down without sublimating. Couple that with the fact I won’t be up that late means I’ll just wait for the next possible flizzard.

We had a pretty big temp bust low up this way a week or so ago, don't remember the exact date. If I had to guess for what Yukon experienced, winds died down sooner than expected and temps plummeted with very dry air in place.

If it makes anyone feel better, our potential winter storm next week has trended towards a major cutter on the GFS and is now bringing rain to Chicago and eventually the NE lol

Based on his many reported busts over the years I think Yukon is in a colder outlier and should probably subtract temp from the official forecast. Or try a new thermometer

I run two calibrated thermometers, one on my ambient weather station and another wet/dry bulb setup. I live in the middle of nowhere with zero concrete. My temps usually run 5-8 degrees colder than Wichita Falls, which is the nearest town, which is about 20 min away.

Since I don't live far from the OK border near the Red River, I always look at at the Oklahoma mesonet maps. Sure wish Texas had some pretty maps like they do. Forecast here was for a low of 26 and I believe my weather station got down to 25.

Merry Christmas my fellow friends! We may not have any snow or significant cold this year on this cherished holiday but I'm sure it has taken a new meaning given our current environment to be happy and humble. Stay safe and stay happy!
