Don't use my posts as forecast; I'm not a licensed meteorologist! I just endorse cold weather, alright?
All observations I note are for Temple, Texas unless otherwise stated.

Re: Texas Winter 2020-2021
I don’t mind the same areas getting snow, as long as we occasionally get ours (like hey, maybe next week!)
It’s akin to springtime when folks west of 1-35 complain about missing out on as much rain when east of 35 gets more. You guys realize that y’all are closer to the desert side than the forest side right? But they get their share of rain so I want my occasional snow

The 0z euro provides a super light dusting in DFW next Wednesday morning, nothing to get excited about but it’s the first time it’s shown up outside the Canadian so something to dream about if it can trend south

January is looking legit for N. Texas with a number of snow lover years showing up as potential analogs.

Also NWS thinks it may bear watching:
A strong cold front arrives next Wed Night/Thursday with colder temperatures. I only
advertise low chances of a cold rain at this time, however we will
need to monitor forecast thermodynamic profiles across the north
and west closely with this system as we move through this coming
holiday weekend as no way of knowing that right now. I do expect
this system may be delayed by a day and more toward New Years Eve
knowing model biases of moving such deep systems east too quickly
beyond Day 5. This system will bear watching closely.

Well it is something to track. Is the proverbial plot thickening? We shall see. At least it will be cold around New Years. I still think we get a La Nina style arctic dump bookended with warmth this winter. Been reading about a potential SSW event. Just like every year.

Starting more to think that New Year’s might be the precursor to an event (setting the stage for colder weather) instead of the actual event!

I still don’t really see any real strong high pressures on the models. I’m waiting for those 1045+mb highs to start showing up.

12Z GFS indicates warm air advection across Texas on the 1st with a high in the low 60s and a low near 50 that night.. Euro has temps near 60 in the afternoon dropping to the low to mid 40s that Friday night. You can uncross your fingers. This isn't the type of pattern that brings snow to TX. Zonal flow through the first week of January with no significant cold air intrusions. Occasional cold air confined to the Great Lakes & New England. No cold lasting very long with the fast zonal flow.

I agree with weatherman, systems too progressive. don't get the excitement with what models are currently displaying.

Yeah I see nothing to be excited about maybe the models will change but right now meh we can't get any sustained cold right now I mean look at this front it looked a lot better a week ago... It always looks good in the long range only to fall apart by verification

North texas could get flurries tonight. Seems there is more moisture behind the cold front than the models indicated.

I don't really see flurries around here but I will say one thing... this wind is kind of impressive
