Area SE of Bermuda (again)

#1 Postby Ryxn » Tue Dec 01, 2020 9:34 am

Quite the vigorous circulation we have here. Also appears that convection is forming at the very center. Looks like a mini-tropical storm....a micro-Marco '08. Obviously it will hit a wall of shear soon but it is still a cool little system that looks like it's trying its hardest to become named. It looks much better than 90L at the moment IMO.

You can see the cool feature at the top right corner of this satellite loop: https://www.star.nesdis.noaa.gov/GOES/s ... &length=24

Absolutely looking pretty decent right now. If it maintains for a while see no reason it couldn't be classified if the winds are strong enough. Long shot but might start December with 2 more systems if the AOI in the SW Carib can come together. Insane!

It's even crazier to think that if 90L actually consolidated and became Kappa, then December could have been starting with THREE named storms spinning simultaneously across the Atlantic for December 2-3 if the Caribbean AOI also develops. That would be absolutely bonkers. 90L though seems to be decaying despite strong vorticity.

Just too small an area of good conditions, shear walls on all sides. Had this been a little earlier in the season then no doubt IMO.

What a cute little LLC. It is trying its hardest to generate convection, but it’s likely running out of time.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Couldn't maintain. Tried it's hardest but doesn't look meant to be now.
