Some random snow and ice on my radar near Lubbock. Is this a bug?

Seems like it’s still in the 40s around there so I’ll have to believe that’s a glitch.

Currently still in DFW but I’ll be making the trip back up to Norman tomorrow just because there’s a halfway decent chance some snow falls there Wednesday. I am so desperate to see snow.

Arlington got down to 27, DFW 30, Denton was reporting a low of 22 as of 5am, and a few other locations around had dipped into the upper 20's. Oddly enough Love Field has been the warm spot and has failed to reach the freezing mark as of yet.

Got down to 25 IMBY. Nice surprise. I looked at models yesterday and none had things that cold.

Managed 30.4f at our abode in W. Houston near Katy Freeway and BW8. Not too shabby for 12 days early for first freeze of the season.

Re: Texas Winter 2020-2021
"Winter" has arrived in Houston and SE TX. The following is SE TX specific from Jeff Lindner.
A freezing cold morning over the region with widespread temperatures in the upper 20’s and low 30’s. Appears the only locations that did not experience a freeze this morning were the immediate beach areas (Galveston 45) and inside the 610 loop (urban heat island).
An impressive upper level low pressure system will quickly approach TX from the west later today and the clear skies for much of the day will rapidly become cloudy by late afternoon into early evening as moisture quickly returns off the western Gulf of Mexico. A little surprised how fast models are bringing moisture back into the area with such a dry air mass in place. Southerly low level jet cranks up this evening and helps to transport better moisture toward the area. Surface warm front will begin to move northward, but doubt it makes it to the coast on Wednesday Strong lift will come to bear across the region as the upper level trough approaches and expect widespread showers and even a few thunderstorms to develop on Wednesday. Upper level system will be progressive with rainfall ending Wednesday evening followed by another strong cold front down the plains and another blast of cold air across the region.
Rainfall amounts will likely average in the .50 to 1.0 inch range with isolated amounts upwards of 2 inches potentially around Galveston Bay and across portions of Galveston, Chambers, Liberty, and Harris Counties.
Late week forecast will be cold with continued cold air advection behind a couple of cold fronts. The first front will move across the area late Wednesday and bring temperatures into the low 40’s for lows and mid 50’s for highs with gusty NW winds on Thursday. A second front will move across the region late Thursday into early Friday with lows likely near freezing again north of I-10 both Friday and Saturday mornings.

^^Do you have a link where I can see Lindner's forecasts? Tried but couldn't find it.

Re: Texas Winter 2020-2021
Over the next week or so the Pacific jet will relax and that will allow for the pattern over NA to shift to more zonal flow with a Pacific air flood. Then beyond that things could get interesting as the Pacific jet will start to extend as cold air builds up in Canada. Do we finally get our first legit arctic dump in the run up to Christmas or does zonal flow dominate the US as that cold air just bleeds off eastward?

Pretty nice short range trend on the 3k NAM, esp. for snow lovers up in OK. Eastern portions of DFW went from point forecast of 30% to 80% on rain but it looks like portions of OK are the big winners!

Re: Texas Winter 2020-2021
I am excited about a big snowstorm for northern OK because they have had years of nothing but the shaft. If the plains north of us can start to cash in this year, that will be good news that eventually it will happen for north Texas.
My family in Kansas has already seen snow this year, while past years has been in largely a snow drought of major events as well.

Watching the noon news radar it does look like the snow is flying in parts of Oklahoma and Kansas. Even Amarillo appears to be getting some as well. All I ask is one 3-4 inch snow and I will be happy.
