If I saw this picture with the land edited out of it, I would think it would be in the WPAC

And in October I was thinking Epsilon could be the last major of the season. :double:

910mb would beat 1932 for the strongest November storm ever recorded. Would not be surprised if Iota challenges that record at this point

Since we’re all cautious this time around to judge strength based on cloud temperature alone lol what does Iota have going for it that may make it stronger than Eta.

Something tells me Eta reached it’s MPI at around 140-145kt and 910-919mb. Even if an EWRC didn’t happen, I think it’s possible Eta wasn’t likely to become a strong Cat. 5 anyways.

Could be wrong. But anyways does anybody have what they think the MPI for Iota may be?

And we thought Eta was fascinating enough for November...ugh

The Caribbean Big Three of 2020(winds as measured by recon):

Delta 120kt -> Eta 135kt -> Iota ???

Well, Maximum Potential Intensity is something that is officially tracked at wxmaps.org; Eta didn't reach it, as I believe MPI was assessed to be at >150kt at the time. Here's the link to it: http://wxmaps.org/pix/hurpot

Has the dreaded giant band to the west that many intense TC's have. This will easily peak as a strong Cat 4 at the minimum unless an ERC happens

Might make that big 4 potentially. There's a 30% chance of something developing where Iota is within 5 days. That'd be unprecedented if it happened. Even having 2 majors like this striking the same spot within a few weeks is practically

November 2020 has already produced 18 Atlantic named storm days. That's the 2nd-most Atlantic named storm days during November on record, trailing just 1932 (20 named storm days). #Iota #hurricane

Raw T's already up to near Cat 5 levels. Adjusted T currently up to Cat 4 levels as well. I think the final T is running a bit low but that might be due to constraints...

With how infrequent recon passes are, it will be hard to catch the peak. It may come down to luck if this actually does make it to cat 5 intensity.

That outflow into the upper low in the Central Atlantic is remarkable.
