Best thing about Storm2k.Org

#1 Postby JTD » Mon Nov 03, 2003 5:57 pm

As I am a new member, I think I better post this. I probably should have done it earlier. Anyway, couple fun questions:
1. What's the best thing about Storm2k.Org
2. What was Storm2.Org's finest hour?
3. What do you absolutely need to know about Storm2k.Org? This can be anything.

Once again, let me say this is a great board and I look forward to many more posts.

1. The people-by far! I love this place because we have the best members of any site ever!! :D

2. My favorite moment was when we hit our 1000th member- because I was actually here for that moment!

3. Storm2K isn't just about weather- you can find information about virtually anything if you are looking in the right places!

Good post Jason, people are going to have fun with this one!

1. The people DEFINATELY.

2. One of the finest hours (I think that htere are alot of memorable events) was during the tornado outbreak earlier in the Spring when people were constantly PM'ing or calling those of our members that were in harm's way. That led to the creation of the "Chat Map" (I believe). It symbolizes how much everyone cares about one another.

3. It's like one big family. You learn so much not only about the weather, but about other people from across the country and even the world. It's a great support group! :D

BTW - WELCOME JASON!

THE PEOPLE...each with their own gifts, follies and problems, lifting each other up and BEING THERE for one another...nowhere else on the Web than Storm2K.Org, and that's a fact. :D

I have to say the best thing is the people.

The finest hour I believe was logging after 3 days of no electricity and our lives being turned upside down. All the posts that were made and pms sent to me about my safety. I had never felt more loved (by people outside the family) than I did on that day. In some of my darkest hours I had one of the best experiences.

I would like to know more about the origins of S2K. I have heard bits and pieces but would love to read the full story. :)

1. Best thing is that most everyone is cool and the mod's consider themselves as equals.

2. lol! S2K's finest hour was when i was drunk and in the saturday night chatroom! nah... had to have been when S2K was mentioned in a television broadcast overseas. that's a gem of an accomplishment!

(the above one is a tough call but i can't personally say it was the advance warnings via S2K webtools because S2K or not, friends are friends and would do it regardless.)

3. is S2K seeking global domination of the recreational online wx observation community?

1. The best wx family, or rather, the best family on the internet! 8-)

2. The tropical forum when Isabel was making landfall, and afterwards. The updates were wonderful and the concern that was shown towards those in harm's way was fantastic.

3. When are we going to get some of our long-lost wx buddies, like Capman, to come make storm2k their new home.
