Center drop was 971mb and last reported winds were 15kt at 968mb, so landfall pressure is likely at 970mb.

HWRF 00z. It stayed into the Northshore and Mississippi. Because this is a daytime landfall, don't be surprised with some dmax burst going into the evevning IMHO.

Edit - just looked at it. HWRF victory on that aspect of the system. Let's see if those pinks don't hold into the evening.

I agree Steve y’all are probably gonna get stronger winds than Katrina on this track. Well eye wall just got here. I estimate wind gust right now is 75-80 wow hit quick!

Yeah, that's kind of what I expected. I just came in to take off my converses because my porch faces east, and that's where it's coming from. Getting it good here, but not to TS yet though a couple gusts into the 30's.

Be patient if what I am getting heads your way y’all are gonna get some strong winds

Not necessarily, after a boost in velocities and FL winds earlier, winds in both departments have come down slightly and the eyewall isn’t nearly as complete. Intensity has likely plateaued and may have dropped slightly up to landfall. Data from the last pass makes me think it could go either way with the landfall intensity, just like with Sally. On the other hand, Sally was still strengthening during landfall. Gonna be exciting to read the PSA reports on both

NHC sticks with 95kt but lowers the pressure to 970mb at its latest advisory.

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.

Why did they not upgrade this to CAT 3!? This storm met all requirements for CAT 3 strength.

I hear yea Frank and I are about 20 miles to your east at least it will be quick speaking of Frank have not seen him on all day?

Yo Jav, had to drive back from Nashville yesterday to do storm preps today, just finished... should be a good test for the beach house in Biloxi as the most winds it has taken on was 70 mph.. wife stayed in Nashville... right now a little breezy tide is creeping up maybe 2-3 feet asl... I expect a surge of at least 9-10 feet and it will put 85% of HWY 90 under water it that comes to fruition...still waiting to see if the NHC updates the storm surge at 4 pm... Amazing storm to track... got genny, food, water, snacks and copious amounts of Crown.. I’m good to go! Good Luck to all, especially the good people of LA, you guys have had the most incredible hurricane season ever...

Hey I got some Glenlivet!

Looks like Zeta is another contender for a post-season upgrade.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

SFMR never got there and I know they weigh that heavily for storms of this strength. But I think it was briefly a Cat 3
