Re: ATL: DELTA - Hurricane - Discussion
Because I like these comparisons so much, here's Delta vs Laura. Similar size.

Hopefully it doesn't get to similar intensity...

And the eye is covered back up again. It’ll be back in a few hours.

The eye was clearing, but it started to get cloudy again. On IR, it was also getting better defined but now it’s getting more ragged.

That's usually a sign of strengthening due to deep convection right?

That wasn’t the full eye; it seems like Delta is still organizing convection, and eventually the full-sized eye will slowly pop out.

How does Delta’s actual track compare to the forecasted over last 12 hours or so? Being in Beaumont the slight shifts to the west are a little concerning.

Certainly not. The eye is still very apparent, but is being covered by high cirrus. You can still see it. Very common for intensifying storms

Delta with an eye, never thought I'd see the day. It immediately looks a lot more intimidating and a raw T# of 7.5 is pretty wild for an Atlantic hurricane.

So all prepped here in Crowley Louisiana
Seen a little bit of drizzle but that's about it being as its so far out
My thoughts are with the area's around Lake Charles
some people i know only got the power restored yesterday and here comes another storm, i believe thee are still many without power since Laura, again my thoughts are with them right now

Re: ATL: DELTA - Hurricane - Discussion
The eye is warming very nice now and has cleared out. We should see modest strengthening for the next 18-24 hours before Delta moves over cooler ssts and increased wind shear upon approach to landfall tomorrow afternoon.
My heart and prayers go out to all in the direct path of this dangerous cyclone, especially to those who were just impacted by Laura just less than six weeks ago. It is just surreal that those same areas are going to be impacted yet again by another very significant cyclone.

Based on recon, to my untrained eye it looks to be a bit west of the NHC track and still heading a bit west of the track.

This storm just keeps churning out those ERCs like crazy. Looks to be in the midst of yet another one.

Re: ATL: DELTA - Hurricane - Discussion
Looks like we are getting a full eye wall, very thin on the east. Possibly because of some slightly drier air that snuck in.
