Re: ATL: DELTA - Hurricane - Discussion
Starting to take a look at conditions in the GoM and the effects of the colder water being discussed.
Currently 4000 CAPE.
At this time the colder water hasn't effected the instability of the air.

The 26°C isotherm is located nearer the north coast.

We know the WMO has said Greek names won't be retired, but they're gonna have to put that to a real test with Delta it appears.

Such a tiny eye, the eyewall is about the size of the Cayman Islands.

And what gets me about that is that Delta is the one Greek letter that doubles as an actual name (in the Atlantic basin) and sounds like an old school hurricane name anyway.

If Delta keeps up the 4 mb/hr pressure drop mentioned in the 5am update, it’ll be around 895-900 mbar by late tonight, assuming an EWRC doesn’t begin. There’s a non-zero chance Delta could become one of the strongest TCs in the Atlantic basin. Buckle up folks, we’ve got a crazy day ahead of us.

Chances growing this becomes strongest storm of the season
That would be in conflict with the NHC and every global/ensemble/mesoscale hurricane model.

Little buzzsaw with a pinhole eye bombing out. Gonna be an interesting day.

The last center reading was at 7:56z. It’s currently a little after 11:00z, and Kermit won’t arrive for another half hour or so. With at least 4 hours between passes, we could be looking at a massive pressure drop soon, especially with a pinhole eye starting to pop out on IR.
Also, the pinhole has been obscured by a massive hot tower rotating around the center. It seems like the CDO is in the process of getting bigger, and the eye will start clearing out again in a few hours.

Re: ATL: DELTA - Hurricane - Discussion
Recent hot tower firing in the southern eyewall will likely keep the eye obscured for a bit longer.
