will be possible thereafter while it moves generally
west-northwestward over the far eastern Atlantic.

Almost unthinkable that it's still September and this would likely named Gamma if it develops into a TS...

Not only that, but Gamma...in the MDR...as a Cabo Verde storm? That's the definition of insanity.

I am sure this AEW will develop, as some models already are showing. The beat continues to goes on and on....

This could be like Vicky. Develops into a moderate TS but not much more than that

This. Gamma should be some wispy malnourished high latitude storm in the central Atlantic on December 15th or later

Exactly. Just another name-burner. Sure, it's kinda cool to see a poor excuse of a Tropical cyclone get tagged with a name never heard before. Fluff to get written into books a bit too boring to simply read and slightly exhausting to re-live. Far more intriguing to me is the drama yet to come from the several tropical cyclones likely to form with the potential to significantly impact many. They'll all have funny names, but they'll be remembered for the impact that they'll have during a year where most everything went wrong.

I’d rather have this not develop. We’re already at 23 named storms but with only 8 hurricanes and 2 majors, and not even 100 ACE (although that’ll be different by the time Teddy and Beta are done). I’d rather have an OTS major that doesn’t really affect anyone and is able to rack up a nice ACE total.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

I kinda hope it develops honestly. This season already has such a weird NS to H ratio. Might as well get weirder lol. Bring it on Gamma! 30 named storms!

A tropical wave is located near the west coast of Africa and will
move westward over the far eastern Atlantic during the next few
days. Development of this system is no longer expected.

Is the wave being discussed here the one currently located around 9N 17W? Because if not that one is probably deserving of its own thread
