Re: ATL: TEDDY - Hurricane - Discussion
Teddy's wind field is going to be huge by the time he makes final approach to what's looking like a Nova Scotia or Newfoundland landfall. An event comparable to Igor certainly isn't out of the question. I really hope coastal Canada is prepping for this- while Teddy will probably have transitioned to an extratropical storm by then, that won't keep the damage from being any less significant.

Most models are showing him slow down significantly and lose a lot of intensity in the ocean. If that happens a decent chunk away from the coast it could prevent a lot of damage.

That large eye that was predicted looks like it’s going to manifest based on microwave imagery. Inner eyewall is eroding and I’d guess should be gone within 12 hours. Winds have probably come down significantly due to the pressure gradient getting blown up with the ERC, but this is going to have a huge wind field. This might be one of the more interesting ERCs I’ve witnessed in the past couple years.

Was it HWRF that was modeling a massive eye developing? Interesting...

Beautiful EWRC with Teddy right now.

Storms with huge eyes tend to be weaker wind wise than Dvorak suggests. I would go with 95 kt for the current intensity right now.

That symmetrical outflow on visible is some eye candy
. Teddy may still have some honey in his system.

If true, I think he has plenty of time to make the run for Cat 5, especially if the large eye starts contracting without doing another EWRC.

Not sure if the bar is quite that high anymore, but Cat 4 again is possible.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Has the HWRF always been this good with structure or is that new? Very impressive either way
