When it’s eye is done reforming pressure should drop like a rock again, but stronger winds should take awhile to make it to the surface.

Teddy is still looking very impressive despite having weakened.

Yup, structurally, Teddy is a classic looking mature hurricane.

I don't know my Dvorak color names by memory but there's definitely more symmetry of the heavy stuff around the core now than a few hours ago.

Re: ATL: TEDDY - Hurricane - Discussion
The NOAA plane heading to Teddy is having some connection problems, with a couple of transmission gaps on its path. I hope those don’t persist through the core passes.

Definitely improving on IR. Could he have completed his EWRC?

Recon hasn’t been heard from in an hour. That’s not good.

Re: ATL: TEDDY - Hurricane - Discussion
Still no transmission from the NOAA plane. This is both worrying and disappointing; Teddy might be strengthening again but now we might not get direct measurements.

Re: ATL: TEDDY - Hurricane - Discussion
Is it normal for recon to have this many problems? Am I just paying closer attention this year or is it #2020ing?

I really hope the crew are safe and this is all just a big hiccup.
As for Teddy’s strengthening, at least the DVORAK estimates have proven to be pretty accurate for the most part. And the satellite presentation could help Teddy’s case as a stronger system.

Wow, TEDDY is one amazing hurricane both structurally and sizewise. Those of you in the Virgin Islands/ Leewards must be feeling quite lucky seeing this thing headed NW, as your locales now appear in the picture safely southeast of this major hurricane.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Teddy go back up to a solid Cat 4 once again, and Cat 5 is not out of the question still.

A 9 hour old microwave pass shows an outer eyewall trying to fully close.

Some pink tops are starting to show on infrared. “Teddy is Ready”
to start another bit of RI pretty soon it looks like.

Recon is doing swirlies but staying at flight level. If they were descending I would assume it’s another search and rescue, but since they’re not, I’m guessing they’re in the process of transmitting all the data they got from that first pass.

I think it’s possible but I’d be surprised if it did so overnight. It’s more likely for a mid cat 4 to me
