Agreed - that would be the NHC's call though and would come from a Tropical Cyclone Update.

TS winds expanding out from the core into that curved band now.

It's too late for that and wouldn't matter being overnight. But really the impacts are all the same.

Looking at surface observed pressures, I’m seeing a few readings down into the 1004 mb range.

(Side note: I hate inHg as a pressure unit - nobody really uses them except for pilots, so of course that’s what gets reported in METARs. It’s annoying to read “965” in a station plot and then have to figure out that that’s not 996.5 mb, but 29.65 inHg.)

This will be like a nasty S. Florida thunderstorm but maybe with less lightning. 7 News is gonna have some images of trees down and such come morning I would assume, but nothing serious.
I gotta say that radar signature from tonight's landfall is one of the coolest things I've seen so far this season!

Strongest storms coming onshore at Cutler Bay. Well south of Miami

This needs to be upgraded soon (like NOW!).
Not only is there more and more data supporting it, but now it’s looking like it’s trek across extreme south Florida will be quite short.
Add the possible brown ocean effect on top of that and there’s no chance they will have to upgrade to TS and then have to downgrade back down to TD later. It will at least hold or even strengthen over the next 12 hours.

The data suggests a pressure of 1003 mb given the adjustments and site locations. Landfall location looks to be around the end of 248th Street, just north of Homestead AFB.

I've never seen it issued for the core though. They will issue them for the outer bands sometimes.

Doggone, that is so cool to watch! Almost like a weak tornado coming in from the east. The Cutler area is gonna have some interesting obs I would assume.
