Calcasieu Pass with a 99kt gust as of 00:06CDT. Water levels sky rocketing. Also cam 8 in Cameron is officially offline/gone.

Wow, watching Jeff P. Brett Adair and Reed Timmer, they are all getting hit pretty hard right now. Reed is talking about maybe going across a bridge, his guys are saying don't think it is a good idea

He said he was going to leave that cam in an area where the surge would probably be able to be seen coming in. Shame it was at night.

The eye should be coming ashore any moment now. The Cameron cam almost made but the storm surge arrived. We'll see how bad it was but I don't want to be those 100+ people that decided to stay.

Got my eyes on moving right into Hurricane Alley: Florida.
Re: ATL: LAURA - Hurricane - Discussion
The nhc surge potential map updated for 10 pm looks significantly better for Lake Charles and areas west of the lake. Earlier it was just all inundated around the city...looked like all of lake Charles would be flooded on the map. Now it’s got lots of wet areas downtown but much better. Would be interested to see what the crest forecast is there now, as I’m guessing it’s back below the 13 record on the graphic everybody was posting earlier.

Re: ATL: LAURA - Hurricane - Discussion
The storm surge probably came over the top of the camera on Cameron. The cam was clearly underwater in the end and got hit by chunks of debris before...poof

On the chat, someone from the crew said it was likely still operating, but the water blocks the cell signal! Tough stuff.
They said they will try to retrieve it when it's safe.

Official landfall at Cameron (center of eye) in 10-15 minutes. Holly Beach made it into the eye just now. Creole was right on the edge, and Grand Chenier will stay in the eastern eyewall the whole time.

Calcasieu Pass station with a 103.8kt (119mph) gust in the inner eyewall. About to break it's water level record.

Make that 106kt. Surge of about 8ft so far but it endured the due north component of the eyewall, surge much higher just a tick farther east I'd imagine.
