Northern eyewall is where definitely the strongest winds are.

Yeah, I think that last dropsonde was a gust. There's nothing on SFMR or Flight Level remotely close to that, and those are 1-minute averages.

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.

I don’t know if I can stay up any longer to see if it gets upgraded or not. Guess I’ll find out in the morning.

Okay, I have been literally stuck at work today with literally no phone or internet access. Can anyone give me a quick runthrough of what has been going on with Laura since this morning? I see she has indeed intensified as predicted, but seems the NHC is leaning towards noting her continued persistence to strengthen. How is she looking right now and when is RECON expected out again?

Full data for that drop:

I don't see any obvious errors there like the NOAA one.

I think NHC will upgrade to 155 mph. Not 160 yet.

If it gets upgraded, I doubt it happens until post season.

Thank you for doing all of these loops, tolakram. When the bandwidth goes down, they're often the only way that some of us get to see what things really look like. I, for one, really appreciate the effort.
