Yet!

Now that you mention...it is very calm outside. Like eerily calm and quiet. I'm not even seeing birds, hearing any dogs barking or cows moo'ing.

I am closer to Raleigh at the moment, but birds are chirping and flying around, squirrels are monopolizing our bird feeders, bees are buzzing and the wind is blowing gently through the trees. I think it will miss us here, but I'm concerned about Southport and points east

Nothing more than a gentle breeze here but very humid. One band of heavy rain at dawn but nothing since. "The calm before the storm" for sure.

There is some convection rotating around the southern half of the CoC.
However IR showing warm cloud tops and Visible shows it going under the cirrus to its north.

Looks somewhat better on visible. Pressure is dropping and it’s moving NNE again. Maybe 12 hours left over open waters.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Will be interesting to see where landfall occurs. I am thinking closer to cape fear than the NC/SC border.

Picking up some helicity on shore.
The closer this gets to landfall, and once landfall occurs, tornadoes could be a real possibility.
Helicity has been unusually high with this system.

The intensity history of this storm is basically just gonna be a sine wave

Not a meteorologist, in fact more of an idiot than anything. You should probably check with the NHC or a local NWS office for official information.

Certainly is rapidly reorganizing. Would probably expect a farther east track as a stronger storm looks likely if it doesn't become a mess again.

Yeah, Isaias is looking a bit better. All depends on how organized it is on the surface. Isaias has had a history of having a real good looking satellite presentation yet at the surface is a train wreck....MGC

Mid-level center moving NE now. NHC may need to adjust their track east a bit for landfall.

Isaias really looking like she is trying to close off all of her South Quadrants at the moment with deep convection wrapping around the COC! Radar presentation from KCLX looking better by the scan with intense convection with lightning in the North Quad. Looking more likely we should see a hurricane by the 8PM Advisory if not the 5PM Advisory, and I'm starting to lean more towards 5PM.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Isaias make landfall a little stronger than predicted around Cape Fear. Not too much to stop the center other than time.

Overall motion looks NNE. Making a run for the border it's just wobbling around because the system is a lopsided mess.Image
