wow- got kind of quiet in here after the major threat to Florida has dissipated. Us poor North Carolinians are left to fend for ourselves-lol. Let's hope this system does not get its act together and strengthen anymore before plowing into our state. After the last few years we really don't need another hurricane!

East coast systems have a subduing effect on hurricane trackers. I think it's partly how long they've been around, as well as more confidence in the track.

It's a pretty common thing here. Heh. I think that a lot of it is because of burnout and finally relief after being under the gun for so long. But, there are always the rest of us gluttons for punishment who often still hang around. Take a look at the signature blocks, and you'll see a bunch of other states and parts of the world who are still hanging in there.

It seems most S2K members are in Florida but they’re still a handful in the Carolinas. This will likely be more eventful for you guys than it was for us.

When I lived up north (including during Irene and Sandy) that was what it was like for me.

9 mph as of the last advisory, but seems almost like he's been in the same spot all day.

It feels like forever ago when it was racing across the Atlantic at around 20mph, talk about a slow down!

Recon indicated the center seems to have relocated just about under the center of convection - that plus the radar and microwave signatures makes me think this is gonna get up to around 80-85 mph before it comes into NC if trends continue. A stronger landfall means it’s might have more wind when it comes through here up in NJ...

even tho by looking at radar and loops, you would have thought it happened hours ago because the convection was so far north and east of the center, the center basically JUST crossed north of me and Orlando's latitude

Our system is looking more and more impressive. I'd be expecting a hurricane landfall in the Carolina zone and an extra dollop of upside (maybe a high end cat 1) wouldn't be a surprise. Best of luck to everyone up there.

Radar velocities also seem to be gradually concentrating around that feature. Looks like it’s getting its act together

71 KT FL wind found in the SW eyewall, which at 700 mb corresponds to 64 KT at the surface.
