Yeah they say that every time there’s a storm headed towards Texas down here.

Hanna is now a hurricane. She is to make landfall south of Corpus in a few hours. Thankfully that area is very sparsely populated. Beyond the strong winds and coastal surge many will see 6"+ of rain south of I-10 with isolated areas of 12"+ so flooding is a big concern.

It’s sad there’s a hurricane making landfall about 3-4 hours south of me right now and I’m not even paying any attention to it and have my full focus on 92L which is like 3,000 miles away. Goes to show you I’m not expecting much from Hanna around here. I mean it’s been raining here off and on all morning but none of the rain is even very heavy. Just light to moderate off and on showers. If I can get 2-3” from Hanna I’ll be a happy camper.

Just got our first downpour from Hannah. Sun out now. Steamy! Looks like more banding to the east and south. 80mph winds down there.

92L is so far out I'm not convinced of anything... could easily be more of an east coast problem unless it stays weak

Yeah the reason I’m interested in it is because I just think it has potential to become a major but you’re right about the east coast thing. Models have trended that way today.

Lost Power for almost 24hrs due to Hanna! I'm live in North McAllen and the Hanna's eye wall went right over my house, It was crazy this was my first time experiencing a hurricane's eyewall and won't soon forget the howling/whistling of the wind! All is good tho thankfully no damage to my house had some street flooding on my subdivision but thankfully it has gone down now.

It’s an exciting experience. At least for me it was. My first hurricane was Claudette in 2003.

I really don't understand why the state government would post these signs all throughout the state when it wasn't going to significantly impact many areas. It seems more useful to utilize those signs in areas that are expecting significant effects. I am not sure what the impacts were on gas by activating the signs in other areas, but I am sure a lot more people went to the pump. Imagine the chaos this could cause if a strong hurricane was going to hit Mexico or Louisiana and the state posted the same signs. I think there could be a real problem with potential unnecessary gas shortages.

Over in Longview I scored 0.55" from a downpour Saturday evening. Continuing to get just enough rain to keep things super steamy and my lawn is happy. Still haven't watered this year. :cheesy:

I'm not sure if the system the state uses for the signs has the ability to focus different messages on different areas of the state. It could be one message being sent out to all, kinda like the child abduction emergency messages.

They could also be posted under the premise that some people may unknowingly travel to where the storm is.

The next couple of days has the type of setup that can pop a sneaky big rain event for DFW.

Didn't quite get to half an inch here at the Rain Cave over the last 3 days (0.44 to be exact), looks like there is at least a slight chance of rain each day. Hopefully I can get the average for July. My rain machine is still broken...

I got a total of 1” from Hanna. I’ve had 1.25” the entire month of July. I need more than that. This little bit of relief won’t last long in the August heat.

I'm impressed were even talking about rain in the days before August!
