The next frame has a new hot tower that's even colder The storm is definitely trying to get its act together right now.

This is a strengthening TS. Will be Gonzalo by morning.

Given its small size and lack of shear this could strengthen quickly.

Yeah, if that convection keeps up like this overnight.. it will be pushing hurricane..

no way with the sustained towers of -80 tp -90 does it not deepen quickly.

Wow, this thing deserves a name already! Looks better than some of our early TS's from June lol

You know how I said earlier (in jest) that it would take an eye feature to get an upgrade? Well if you look at the last frame in the IR loop, it just might be happening.

Yep those towers are spiraling around the center ridiculously fast. Got the feeling we have a mid-end TS right now but probably with a microscopic core of max winds. If that trend continues, probably going to hit minimal hurricane intensity tomorrow, but these tiny storms are tricky... could just as easily collapse but I doubt it just yet

Not a meteorologist, in fact more of an idiot than anything. You should probably check with the NHC or a local NWS office for official information.

I'm starting to think the HWRF isn't all that far fetched

If this is a TD it is a category 5 TD. Looks really impressive. Between this and that false start in the western Caribbean awhile back it looks like the MDR is going to produce this year. My gut still says it falls apart but it has consistently exceeded my expectations.

This has to be the best looking "tropical depression" in north atlantic history.

I know we all love hard data, but ASCAT is going to struggle resolving a small storm like this. It might show 30-35kt barbs, when in reality there might be a small area of 45-60kt winds. I probably wouldn't go as high as 60kts, there's obviously a good amount of doubt, but I wouldn't be surprised by 45-50kt winds being produced currently. This looks really good and has all day.

Even if it were in the path of buoys, it’s more than likely too small to get an actual reading.

Looks fantastic right now, the coverage of the overall convective mass has been steadily increasing over the past few hours and the circulation is very vigorous

This does remind me of Emily 2005 thus far.
