This should sum up my predictions.....

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

This should sum up my predictions.....

With all the recent talk about retiring storms this year, this is what I think.

Ana- Even though it was an early and historic storm, I say no.

Bill- No, it was an average tropical storm.

Claudette- Maybe, as the damage was of a modest category 2 storm. NHC peaked landfall at 90 mph, although when they are still intensifying, they may do worse damage.

Danny- In 1997, he was the only storm who had a chance to be retired, but failed. Same happened this year.

Erika- I doubt it. Damage was very light considering how it may have been a hurricane at landfall.

Fabian- Tough. I say yes, since it was the worst storm to hit Bermuda in 50 years, and killed several people. Fabian also caused extensive damage.

Grace- No way.

Henri- I don't think Henri will be retired.

Isabel- Almost certain. Hurricane Isabel was in the top ten costlist storms list. I think it beat Hugo's damage. That would make it the second costlist hurricane in US history. Over 40 deaths, jeez!!!

Juan- I do think since it was requested, Juan will be retired. Also, the damage was very, very bad in Nova Scotia.

Kate- I think it should have been retired in 1985, but not this year.

Larry- My guess is no, but I've not yet heard the death and damage reports.

Mindy- No way.

Nicholas- No, but it was a fun storm to track, as it fought off shear for days.

Is Hurricane Season 2003 over? In 36 days, will we have seen more? Time will tell, but more storms or not, a season to remember.

I think we will have 1 or 2 more storms. It's been a very busy season. I think the Atlantic season is over but the Gulf and Caribbean may have 1 last blow.

Yes the Gulf coast may very well have one last blow. Models keep zinging up things everywhere. The other day I saw a model take on estorm over Haiti, while at the same time 2 headed for the Bahamas and South Florida, and one moving into the GOM. It was the MM5 model.

Floyd - great analysis of the storms and which should be retired. Although I don't think Claudette has any chance of being retired, in my opinion.
