Special Weather Statement is now up for Bell and the snow is still going. Sadly the snow band is about to leave but I did see about a inch - 2 inches on the ground

The band has begun moving more due north so I am still stuck on the edge with rain/sleet mix. Hope we transition to snow at some point, the changeover line seems to be within less than 20 miles.

I will say though that my front yard looks BEAUTIFUL. Plants are covered in snow and the roads look really wet.

Post a pic for me in the morning. I'm in north-central Cherokee county so I'm gonna miss out on it slightly to the east. When the first convective band came through I heard some sleet banging up against my window, but it doesn't look like I'll catch the backside of the band that's dropping snow.

What an awesome over performing system down here! Much of central TX saw at least a few snowflakes, and here in Houston I saw thundersleet! Not bad for such little expectations...

I’ve just come to expect it. Model maps and forecast quotes get posted, I just stay a nowcast person with a weather rock. It keeps me sane.

Record snowfall for Camp Mabry for February 5th, a TRACE, they mentioned this morning.

13 degrees this morning in Midland with 7 to 8 inches of snow on the ground. Feels like Siberia!

Once it cleared off it got COLD. Made it down to 10 last night.

Time stood still in Downtown Austin last night as everyone stumbled onto the streets to look up at what started as a few flakes turned to sheets of snow. Lasted a couple hours. Various sized flakes, and even some dense pellets. Quite the treat.
