Wise and Denton county (as far as pictures) were some of the jackpot areas. Reports anywhere from 2-3". Over the years it's clear really pays off to move a county or two north and west! Makes a good difference in marginal events.

Re: Texas Winter 2019-2020
Yes, normal Texas winter with 70s and severe storms one day, only to wake with freezing temps and snow the next.
Keep in mind that this is the 1st day of 2020 that we reached the freezing mark, January is +7 degrees for the monthly mean, and +0.84" for monthly precipitation.
There has been little movement with this pattern since early December, and the outlook for the rest of January is looking pretty much the same. We are on course for perhaps the warmest January on record if this persistent pattern continues.
I have to admit I am really losing faith with this years winter, and starting to worry that spring will be a enhanced severe weather season.

Had our traditional family game of Snow Football. We do it every year it snows...it’s been a few years. Very glad to play it again. It’s the little things you forget about that are why you fall in love with it.

Did the Airport pick up enough snow to officially break the snow drought? Gotten some on and off flurries out this way but the main batch feel apart as it moved into central Collin County. Super stoked for those that did get snow, hope has returned to N. Texas!

At least it is good to know that most of the DFW metroplex got at least a dusting or more which I’m counting as a snow day, which means we didn’t reach 5th year snowless streak!!!!!!

Summer's for hibernation, Winter’s my vacation
Don't use my posts as forecast, I'm a complete meteorology noob! I just like cold weather, alright?
All observations I post are for Temple, Texas unless otherwise stated.

Cloudy and mid 50s here in Houston. At least I got 0.74" of rain, which is the most since early November. Since you've had your snow in D-FW, we can go back to summer now...

Got about 1.5” here in NW Frisco in Denton County.
Went out and had a snowball fight with my seven year old. Last time we played in the snow, he was 2.5 years old and the snow was up to his mid thighs.

Looks like the airport has gotten 0.02" of liquid this morning. Now to see how they report that as snow.

Just like the good old days, except we didn't track this system breaking down every run of every model for days on end lol

Weather geek and a storm spotter in West Austin. Not a degreed meteorologist. Big snow fan. Love rain and cold! Despise heat!

Haha. Yes. Hate to admit it but the last five years have definitely curbed my enthusiasm.

I notice about half of the 12z GFS ensembles show a winter storm across the state around the 20th.
