Atlantic basin is quiet sign that season is over?
No areas of concern this friday evening as no imminent development is expected even in the SW caribbean that has had a broad low pressure for many days. That area that this friday morning was looking good faded this afternoon as the 12,000 feet mountains in Hispanola teared apart any circulation that was trying to develop. The models haved been flip-flopping with this area in the caribbean one day they develop it and the next day they lose it in their runs but no definite trend has been seen about the SW caribbean. The fronts are making more south progress into the deep tropics than normal for this time of the year and this factor is aiding in a more tranquil atlantic basin the rest of the season.
Is this a sign that the 2003 may be closing down earlier than november 30th or there will be something left that might develop? Time will tell if the 2003 season is over or there is something left but this season has been an active one 14/6/3 especially the CV season.

Right now there is nothing that shows any signs of organization in the whole atlantic basin but time will tell if the season already is closed to developments.

Agree msbee the western caribbean area still is the favored area for developments this time of the season but right now nothing is brewing there.Yes the CV season is closed now as the troughs are dominating now the east atlantic as they normally do at this time.

Yes, Gordon (2000) was not retired, it is on the 2006 list.
