Hurricane Juan was devestating. It should be retired. at least this has a reason unlike Hurricane Diana, and Hurricane Klaus. BTW, which Diana was retired, the 1984 or the 1990 storm?

The 1990 storm, for the flooding it caused in Mexico.

I saw somewhere that Diana killed 90-some people back in 1990, so I can understand why it was retired then. As for Klaus, I'm stumped....if Klaus got retired, then why weren't Erin of '95 and Danny of '97 retired? Klaus killed 4 people, Erin killed 6, and Danny killed 9, if I'm correct.

Maybe they didn't like how Klaus was pronounced. That's all I can figure.

Klaus was definitely questionable, as to why they retired it. Yet they didn't retire Gordon, which caused 1100 deaths in Haiti due to flooding and mudslides... :b?:

The only reason I can think of for retiring Klaus is that it was offensive to non-Christians...you know, Santa Claus?

This is probably the same reason why Adolph was retired in the EPAC in 2001. The name probably reminded people of Adolph Hitler and was deemed offensive.

I could be wrong, but I doubt it, especially with our ultra PC world we live in.

One of the biggest surprises in Hurricane Retirement would have to be the non retirement of Hurricane Juan in 1985 --> $1.5 Billion in damages in 1985 dollars.

This one even to this day still baffles me on why it was continued to be used since(still listed on the lists)....Even though this year is the first time its been used since.
