Tough forecast today, the Hi-res models say that this is all bonus rain this morning and that the main event for DFW will be late this afternoon into tonight. However, starting to wonder if this lingering light rain will keep us too stable to realize the potential for storms and heavy rain this evening...

The HRRR still wants to bring some more rain through overnight but that could change. At least we got some today.

Hi-res models still showing the potential for isolated 4-6"+ totals.... 18z 3k NAM has 4" at DFW, which would be a daily record or it could be a daily record for Saturday and Sunday, if totals can split the clock.

Looks like some new development to the North of the Metroplex.

Not a bad weekend... .39” on Saturday morning and .70 on Sunday morning. Badly needed.

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Austin/San Antonio TX
236 PM CDT Sun Aug 4 2019

.SHORT TERM (Tonight through Monday Night)...
Diurnal heating should provide the lift for scattered showers and
isolated thunderstorms this afternoon and again on Monday. Many
locations will remain dry or only receive a trace. Those lucky
enough to be under a heavy shower may receive 1/2 inch. Look for
Monday morning lows and afternoon highs to be 1-3F higher than the
past two days.

&&

.LONG TERM (Tuesday through Sunday)...
You probably don`t need to "tell two friends, and they`ll tell two
friends" about the forecast for the rest of the week -- it`s August,
in South Central Texas, and football season hasn`t started; what
else would it be but hot and dry?
The longwave mid- and upper-level
ridge over the Rockies will de-amplify and re-center over Texas this
coming week. So while overall heights/thicknesses will drop a bit,
the center of the ridge will be overhead, and thus push afternoon
highs back into the low 100s nearly everywhere from Thursday through
Sunday. The warming of morning lows will lag a day or two behind,
but upper 70s and a few in the 80-82F range will occur late in the
week. Heat index values will approach 108-110 for at least a few
hours each afternoon for locations east of I-35. If the number of
hours and intensity get any higher, heat advisories may be issued,
but with this coming well into the warm season and only being
slightly above normal, we may just focus on the usual hot weather
safety tips in an SPS. There is essentially zero chance of rain
Tuesday through Sunday,

Fall is just around the corner.

My trees and that of my neighbors continue each day thinking it's already here, continuing to drop leaves everywhere. There's a slight fall feel to the heat, you know the feeling, it's still hot, but there's slightly less humidity to it? That switch is slowly happening, but make no mistake, it's happening.

I notice the feel too. Does feel like slightly less humidity in the mornings the past week. The sun is coming up slightly later (staying dark longer) when I leave for work, and setting a little sooner in the evening. Only a matter of time when the temperature drop follows.

Summer was delayed, but def not denied. Seems it all started with Barry which ushered in or sped up the pattern change.. Perfect time too.. right when patterns generally become stagnant.. sucks hehe

Could not agree more. Right after the formation/passage of Barry the 500mb pattern shifted. Then it become consisently dry which then feeds back.

August ranks 12 out of 12 in the month rankings. Just a terrible month to get through. Major heat, no holidays, anticipation of football, the tease of preseason games, and major heat. September can't get here soon enough. This heat makes me miserable and cranky. Yuck.

Euro EPS is almost spot on climo with the hottest wx of the year coming up for DFW and then temps cooling into the end of August.

Yep August is definitely my least fav month of the year too. The forecast for the next few weeks is downright terrible. Hot and dry = depressing. September can't get here soon enough!
