There aren’t enough vile words for 2011. That a Summer was absolute poop hell on Earth.

A beautiful 62 degree morning here. And yesterday afternoon was a comfortable 90 with a breeze and lower humidity.

We moved that summer (twice actually; once across the parking lot to switch apartments, and once across the Metroplex) and it was brutal. We moved again this year and I feel like Ma Nature said “Hey, you know what? I owe you one for that.”

Last year I came back from vacation to 109 degrees. This year is was in the 80's when I stepped off the plane yesterday. I like this year better. This morning is comfortable.

Way to go Austin!

58F at Austin-Bergstrom Airport (AUS) this morning. Records here date back to 1942 and the old Bergstrom AFB. First temperature below 60F in July ever reported. Historical Camp Mabry site (ATT) reported 64F, which is a new daily record, and coldest July temp since 1970. #txwx

And Waco! (Too bad DFW missed out)

Came within TWO degrees of a 104 year old record low this morning!! Hit 67, it was (and still is 65).
Waco? Blew theirs out by FIVE degrees (Hit 60, was 65)
Houston got down to 66 and missed theirs by just ONE. https://t.co/kUIc44H2Mo/

Another spectacular 62 degree July morning here. Another low 60s morning tomorrow before we gradually warm up. Each of these mornings are near record lows. Reviewing the records for Tyler I see 51 degrees on 7/15/1967, wow.

It's hard to avoid heat during the 1st half of August but the GFS might be too warm given these trends.

What a beautiful late July morning! Austin Bergstrom broke an all-time July record low, down to 59 this morning. Enjoy it while you can. Looks like typical late July weather coming back. Bummer.

It looks like next Tuesday & Wednesday will be the next chance for DFW to get to 100F but then things look to "cool" back down. The longer we go without rain, the harder it will be to keep temps from bumping it towards 100F. However, trends continue to say "No major heat wave" on the way. If we can get through the 1st two weeks of Aug then our chances of a significant heat wave start to really go down. The avg high the 1st two weeks of Aug 97F, the avg high by Aug 31 94F.

Will it ever rain again?! All of the grass is brown and crispy. I have an area in my gravel drive that I have to avoid driving over because of the 2” wide crack running down the edge of it for 10-12’ that appears deep enough that a demogorgan might try and slip through from the upside down. I know this time of year is dry but this is getting ridiculous.

Bubba, what are your early thoughts on this winter? If we get a +pdo but not too strong, would that be ok for us? Just curious. I like to think ahead lol.

a lot drier now, best rain is to the south :(

I haven't been watching models but I randomly opened the GFS and it looks pretty active though once we get to the end of the week and has a huge front at day 10 it appears
