Was the UKMet from the other day onto something here, not tracking the center but that big convection blob?

I think the models were having issues with the two ridges. if Barry had not ingested so much dry air a couple days ago this would be a texas storm.. the two ridges are stronger at different levels of steering. a stronger system would have been likely steered more by the ridge to the NW and stayed on a more westerly to wsw track for longer.

First eye-like feature appears on IR. Need more frames to tell if it's a legit mid-level feature.

Where?? I don't ever remember seeing pink on these before, the (-80 -- -90) have they been there before?

All I really see is a big Heart pumping away.

It's just that little clearing at 28N 91W. This is what happens when you obsess over each frame of 1 minute imagery haha. It's not a true eye but it's probably an area of subsidence related to the intense storms to the east.

Our blob has splint down the middle. What could have caused it to do that?

Not an meteorologist! Just someone who is interested in weather. Please refer to the NHC and local weather officials to make decisions.

Energy might be spreading out. Winds appear a bit lower as per recon than earlier as well, and pressure is also up a bit.

Think we are beginning to see it transitioning to an eastern dominated convection storm as has been modeled

I agree, right side looks to be spinning as we would expect a storm/cane to do. The left side, well...I dont know. The entire thing sure doesn't look to be moving any closer to the coast...or moving anywhere for that matter. Maybe I've been looking at it too long.

Large new tower with a prodigious amount of lightning going up. It's sending out a sizable gravity wave now.

Image

The inner band of lightning with it appears to be pointing near where the center of circulation is.

That weird little cold spot persists and has been there for 50 minutes now. Don't think it's actually an eye, but weird for sure.

That blob to his west reminds me of Matthew.
