Re: Strong Tropical Wave in Eastern Atlantic
SAL will be a huge factor for the remaining part of July, the AEW’s have arrived as expected. Some of these pouches will likely diminish some of the dusty air in the area helping to aid convection in these waves. Just have to watch for one that can sneak underneath it.

Development or not these systems never make it to CONUS
systems coming off Africa never make it?
Agreed! What's on the line here though,... is forecasts. Personally, I went with a slightly above average season (15/8/3). I am finding this sudden uptick in activity very concerning however. Especially considering that it is coinciding with all the news about the collapse of the El Nino. Oh, and emerging La Nina....? wow

Re: Tropical Wave in Eastern Atlantic
The 00z GFS and GFS-Legacy still seem to indicate the possibility for a weak spin-up with this wave.

Tropical cyclones can and will laugh in the face of climatology. Not saying that this one will, just that blanket rules exist to be broken.

Re: Tropical Wave in Eastern Atlantic
A tropical wave located several hundred miles southwest of the Cabo
Verde Islands is producing disorganized shower activity. Some
slight development of the wave is possible during the next day or
two while it moves westward at 15 to 20 mph before environmental
conditions become less favorable over the weekend.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...10 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...low...10 percent.
