Re: Texas Spring 2019
Pretty horrible weekend weather once again. Don't even want to poke my nose outside it's so cold. I'm lying under an electric blanket trying to keep from freezing to death. I'd take 110 degrees over this any day. Next weekend looks like maybe 80 deg.
Since the winter won't end in TX, I'm heading farther south to Rio de Janeiro (where it's summer) in a few weeks. Have to go down there to discuss Bay of Bengal cyclones with a client.

I haven't been tracking ENSO much recently, but I do know if a Super Nino develops I'll feel really bad for the folks in Peru. They haven't has much relief from the Nino effects since the 2015 one.

TeamPlayersBlue wrote:Possibility of another Super nino coming this fall. As an avid skier, a Super Nino is wonderful, but for SE Texas, im not so sure im excited about this. I have no evidence to back up the claim im about to make, but I just dont think another super nino will come so quickly.
With that said, what are the other possibilities? Dying nino? Modiki? What are these implications if its not a super nino. If it were a super nino, JB says it will be the first time in history they occur so close together.
Ew please no
The last Super nino started our snowless streak

Finally something to talk about again... maybe if the models don't dry the system out for Texas. The 12z EPS looks pretty wet for most of Texas, so my confidence is starting to go up a bit.

I saw that too. I’ve been wondering why no one has been talking about it much.

It's been over a week away and the models have been jerking us around in the medium/long range all winter lol

Exactly. Like last system for example. Hopefully we can score with this next chance.

Yup, same thoughts here in Texomaland. It was 32 degrees here in Denison on Saturday morning and it was 30 degrees yesterday morning.

Not sure what you mean. The 100s in the RGV and 90s into Austin next Monday? Looks nice! I think we can rule out any snow chances there in Austin...

Surprised no chatter about the deer park fire in Houston. Very impressive smoke plume showing up. I can even see a little in the Eastern Hill Country W of Austin this evening...

I can't wait for a little more warmth and humidity. The last strong cold front resulted in some dry and bloody sinuses for me. I'm ready to leave that misery in the past.

We need to see some sun with some of that humidity so we can break the cap and destabilize the atmosphere.

I've noticed the past several days here, the humidity has been in the 20s, only recovering to 50s percent humidity at night. Lots of throat clearing sinus stuff with people around here

00z Euro shifted the system north... very little rain across Texas over the next 10 days.

Like I said a few days ago, it could be a dry spring around here.

Too early to say that. Still have all of April & May.
But yea, so far, it's been as crappy as winter. The models have been nothing but terrible.
